As the year is dragging itself to a close, I felt a sliver of relief for all of about… 2 seconds.
Because it was then I remembered… My Goodreads Reading Goal….
Do you… do you want to see it??
Do you think you are prepared??

33 books behind schedule is terrible.
I honest to god, could not tell you what I spent all my time doing??
I don’t know?
I watched movie, played some video game and ate snack??
BUT SURELY NOT ALL YEAR???
Anyway.
Seeing as I have potentially unreachable standards for myself, I’ve convinced myself that I can still reach this goal if I start today.
How I did that, heck… WHEN I decided that, is a mystery.
So, the plan is to try and read 33 books in 17 days, which is about 2 books a day.
Now, it’s not all darkness and despair. I have 6 manga’s that I’d like to get to, and I can read manga pretty fast.
So that’s 27 average length books…
I know what you’re thinking.
“But Lin. You’ve read 14 books in 11 months and all of a sudden you think you’re just going to gain the ability to read 20+ books in 17 days??”
…

I CAN’T GIVE UP BEFORE I’VE EVEN STARTED THE RACE!!!!!!!
(it’s not a race, but tbh I got the idea of binge reading for several days straight last night and haven’t come up with any negatives to that plan sooooo)
I’M GOING TO WIN THIS RACE, IF NOTHING ELSE!!!

Without further ado, I present to you a list of the books I’m hoping to get to. However, I should say, I am a mood reader.
So all the books on this list are books I am currently in the mood for, but further down the line I might suddenly want to read something else, and I will switch it with something on this list. But for now these are the ones I want to get to!
I may reactivated my Instagram (oh god, I haven’t been turning my phone on – which is nice because I’m not wasting as much time on it, but also… my poor Bookstagram. I abandoned it… it has been MONTHS) and update my progress every now and then on my stories.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl, in which readers and bloggers come together to squeal, cry and ooo ‘n’ aaa at books.
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is “Books On My Winter 2020-2021 TBR (or summer if you live in the southern hemisphere)” and boi oh boi do I have a LIST! And this list is only books I want to read before 2020 ends…. I haven’t even thought about making any plans for 2021.
Clicking on the book covers will take you straight to their Goodreads pages, so you can check them out too!! Any sequels will be linked to the first book of the series to avoid spoilers!

Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
I know… How come I haven’t read one of my most anticipated reads of the year yet?? It is literally sitting there… on my shelf… waiting for me. Waiting to make me cry, no doubt.
803 pages.

A Curse so Dark and Lonely & Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer
868 pages total.

Circe by Madeline Miller
393 pages.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely fine by Gail Honeyman
336 pages.
I heard this one makes people cry… which is obviously why I have it.

Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin
513 pages.

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He
416 pages.

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
392 pages.

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows
491 pages.

The Frostblood Saga by Elly Blake
1,227 pages total.

The Wrath and the Dawn Duology by Renée Ahdieh
820 pages total.

Iskari Trilogy by Kristen Ciccarelli
821 pages total.
This is a trilogy (of companion novels) but I only own the first 2 books, so I’m going to binge read them because…. dragons.

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller
329 pages.

Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett
437 pages.

The Stars Never Rise Duology by Rachel Vincent
704 pages total.

The Manga I Plan to Read
I only listed 20 books because my gosh is this list already long… It’s likely I’ll do some rereads. (I’ve been eyeing the Angelfall trilogy… might reread that…) But otherwise, I’ll just go where the mood takes me! And right now, beyond the books already on this list, the mood is:

Yona of the Dawn by Mizuho Kusanagi
I loved the Yona of the Dawn anime, so I had to get my hands on the books! I have the first 4, and I just know I’m going to fly through them!

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki

Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits by Waco Ioka, Midori Yuma

Do I have unrealistically high hopes of being able to achieve all of this??? Yes.
Am I going to try anyway??

What books are you, responsibly, planning to read before the year ends?? Have you read any of the books on my list?? Did you enjoy them??
You can find me here too!
You can do it!! I loved My Lady Jane–and I sped through that one–so I hope you get to it! ❤

I have like ten books I want to read by the end of they but they’re all pretty decent sized fantasy novels so I doubt I’ll get to all of them especially with my crazy work schedule; but we’ll see! I’ve read both Spin the Dawn and Serpent and Dove (read them both twice actually) and really enjoyed them both!
