Synopsis:

Ever since last year’s homecoming dance, best-friends-turned-worst-enemies Zorie and Lennon have made an art of avoiding each other. It doesn’t hurt that their families are the modern-day version of the Montagues and Capulets. But when a group camping trip goes south, Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded in the wilderness. Alone. Together.

Zorie and Lennon have no choice but to try to make their way to safety. But as the two travel deeper into the rugged Californian countryside, secrets and hidden feelings surface. Soon it’s not simply a matter of enduring each other’s company, but taming their growing feelings for each other.

Note: This book is rated as 14+ as there are mature themes.

As someone who tends to adore the outdoors (the secluded, forestry type of outdoors) but not go out doors, this book was a treat. This book made me want to adventure and explore all the places. More than that it made me want to get lost. It made me want to go and camp and just get lost sleeping in spooky places where no one else has slept before. I’ll become a Wild, Witch Lady. A Wild, Witch Lady with camping supplies and the tools I need to survive – Let’s not get too crazy now.

I previously read Night Owls by this author and loved it. I loved this one too! Maybe even more! I love the writing, and the world building (even though it doesn’t need much world building, because it’s set in our world). One of the things I love most about a book is when, instead of just describing the area simply, it makes you see the area. It makes you live in that scene.

I adored the way that the path they hiked and the places they saw was described. When I finished this book I had the overwhelming urge to go on an adventure much like Lennon and Zorie did.

The main (Well, “main”, there were a few focus points) focus of this book was the relationship between Zorie and Lennon. They used to be best friends, maybe-more, but that all fell apart a year before this books present time. It follows them on a grand adventure as they discover what went wrong back then, as something new blooms (suppose it wasn’t so much “new blooming” so much as it was re-lighting an old spark). There is also the HUUUGE topic of Zorie’s dad (and the scandal surrounding him and his “behaviours”), and how she deals with it. Personally, though I liked Zorie and Lennon, my favourite characters were Zorie’s step-mom (Joy) and Grandma Esther, who was only there at the end of the book but she was great. 10 points to Grandma Esther!!!!

I’d rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars!!

  1. I love the title of this post lol! Sign me up for the adventures of camping without all the mosquitoes (although I actually do have a camping trip coming up which means loads of bug spray.) I’ve also always wanted to go to California, so I’m definitely going to try to pick up this book. And the MCs both have awesome names. Great review!

    1. Love a bit of organic love!! XD I hope you have fun on your camping trip!!! Camping seems like so much fun, but it is literally raining like heck outside and I love it soooo. I don’t want to wish away the rain…. it would become prime time for the mosquitoes to attack XD
Zorie and Lennon are great names though!!
