This was my first Fairy Loot box, and my first time buying a subscription box!
I thought I would share it with you guys since I am very excited. Perhaps a little too excited….
ALSO CAN I NOTE THE DELIVERY!!!!
I received an email on the Wednesday saying that it had been dispatched and it came on the same Friday????? That was very fast! I was expecting it to take longer! 10/10! I was very surprised! I may have squealed!
For those of you who don’t know, Fairy Loot is a London, UK based company that …. well… creates subscription boxes…. and share them….. yeah that makes sense.
It’s a monthly YA subscription box which predominantly focuses on Fantasy books.
There are plans that you can subscribe to; there’s the monthly payment subscription option (meaning you pay once a month), there’s the 3 month pre-paid subscription (You pay for the next three boxes in advance), or the 6 month pre-paid subscription (For the next 6 boxes).
Or you can purchase a box through “Single Purchase”(You choose which box to buy, and the payment is not renewed the next month). Hence the “single” ….. I’m explaining things I don’t need too.
I got this box through single purchase, because I wanted to make sure I liked it before I decide to buy others. Note: If you are going to do single purchase, you’ll have to be fast because the boxes sell out very quickly.
The theme for the May 2018 box was “Save the Kingdom”, which is why I decided now was as good a time as any to give it a go. I love books that have kingdoms in them.
*sigh* There’s always some kind of heart stopping drama to love in a kingdom.
This is what you see when you open the box. ^^^
Purple noodlies…. so much fun!
I, of course, threw the spoiler card to the side with a shriek. It’s like opening a present, I don’t want to know what’s in there before I tear into it!
The first thing to be seen in this jungle of noodlies is:
This Exclusive Remnant Vegan Lip Scrub which was created by Geeky Clean. It is inspired by The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson.
There were apparently three variations of this product; Morrighan, Venda or Dalbreck.
I got Dalbreck which smells like melon and I can’t stop smelling it.
I have never used lip scrub before, nor has anybody in my family ever had lip scrub before. They were all very confused by this alien product. I was confused.
I’ll try it. But if I don’t like it, I’m just going to use it for it’s smell. It smells so good, I could smell it for the rest of my life.
I recognise that I used the word smell here a lot….. hehe, smell.
Next in the box there were the cards (paper stuff’n’fluff):
So there is the FairyScoop, the spoiler card (which was on top of all the noodlies) and 2 bookmarks. One is the same design as the spoiler card. The other is a Smoke in the Sun bookmark, on the back of this bookmark there is a quote;
It did not matter that the sun refused to shine.
Mariko was not beholden to its light.
I’m already really excited….. Somebody stop me.
Then there was this little guy, hiding from me…
It’s a Legendary Tarot Card. It’s giving me Red Queen vibes….
Legendary is the sequel to Caraval by Stephanie Garber, which is out on the 29th of May 2018.
Then there are these Exclusive Wyrd Mark Page Flags designed by Fictiontea Designs.
These are inspired by the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.
I don’t use page flags when I read. I just…. read. But perhaps I will try using the page flags thing. It would help for when I want to write reviews.
Next there’s this, Save the Kingdom Tea by The Tea Leaf Co. This is English Breakfast tea. I don’t drink this kind of tea, I mainly drink fruity tea. But I haven’t tried it before…. maybe I’ll like it???
Also, the packaging is pretty cute….. Keep it for the packaging….. yeaaaaaah.
Next is this Exclusive Weapon Coaster designed by Evie Bookish.
Also, this is really useful. I was starting to get concerned that my new desk was going to get watermarks. BUT NOW I CAN REST ASSURED! WOOOO!
Next is this Exclusive Fear Book Sleeve designed by Reverie & Ink. The quote is from Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes, and I adored this book. Like I read it, then had a heart attack when I saw the release date of its sequel (at the time it was like a years waiting time [Note: before this I had usually only read books which series were already complete] and I may have died a little)
And this is my first ever book sleeve soooooooooo. I am pretty darn excited. I guess now I need to leave the house….. go travelling….. how does one travel amongst the humans???
According to the spoiler card the lining is waterproof…. What kind of magic….. my book won’t get wet…. when it rains….. genius.
AND THEN THE BOOK!
With this book you get; A signed book plate, a letter from the author and two stickers (Which I am assuming are relevant to the book 😀 ).
Also on the back of the Author letter, there is character art……
And it’s reeeeeeaaaaaaaaally pretty. Going straight on the wall to motivate me, and to boost this book up the TBR!
They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father after he tried to assassinate the high king of Rime.
Cast out of the nobility, Kate now works for the royal courier service. Only the most skilled ride for the Relay and only the fastest survive, for when night falls, the drakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt. Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: She is a wilder, born with forbidden magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals.
And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by drakes in broad daylight—the only survivor Corwin Tormaine, the son of the king. Her first love, the boy she swore to forget after he condemned her father to death.
With their paths once more entangled, Kate and Corwin must put the past behind them to face this new threat and an even darker menace stirring in the kingdom.
*deep sigh of delight* Magic. Kingdoms. Deadly Flightless Dragons.
What more could I want?
I hadn’t actually heard of this one? And I am confused as to why I had not? This looks great? This looks like something that I would love? Amazon I thought you loved me? Why did you not tell me of this books’ existence?
SPRAYED EDGES!!!!! *faints* It’s a white hardcover…. with black sprayed edges…. these are not tears…. ;o;
This whole surprise box thing was fun! It’s like Christmas!
This isn’t what I usually post (who really knows what type of posts to categorise mine as) but I thought it would be fun to do.
I won’t be doing this every month though. I would like to buuuut that’s expensive. BUT STILL FUN!
I would buy another Fairy Loot box in future, if the theme is something I live for (like the whole Kingdom saving spiel).
NOTE: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA I wrote this post last week aaaaaaaaaaannnd I bought the June FairyLoot box because I am a shameful creature….
The theme for June is Rebels in Ballgowns <<<<<——– YOU SEE! I NEEDED IT!!!
Plus, my heart gets a little jumpy at the notion of getting a cute as heck little box with a nice and shiny hardcover book AND Bookish goodies in it. Literally like Christmas….. but once a month…. double plus; Christmas is once a year, FairyLoot is once a month (12 times a year)……. HELLO NEW CHRISTMAS!!!!
Have you guys tried other subscription boxes? Have you tried FairyLoot? Were you happy with them? Do you like these kind of posts? Or is this just strange??
