BOOKS THAT I REALLY, REALLY NEED!

LISTS!!!!! I LOVE LISTS!!!!

No, but seriously, lists are great.

Soooo, I have been spending a lot of time on Amazon…. naturally.

Although I did not spend a penny *applause* GO ME!!!!!

My self-control is strengthening….. finally

I literally don’t have any money anyway….. largely because there is no self-control present in my book loving soul. *looks around in shock for who might be responsible but then claiming the goods anyway*

I decided that I would write you guys a little list of books that I am urgently watching…. and waiting for… I say watching because you never know…. they might bring the date forward and I could have it for dinner I can dream

This list could go on forever to be honest…. If  I ever catch wind of a book that sounds friggin’ amazing which is all the time then you bet I’ve got it written on my calendar.

Okie, here we gooooooo.

Also, I am so sorry if you were avoiding looking at new releases so that you don’t compulsively pre-order all of them…. I am so sorry 😮

1) Ash Princess – Laura Sebastian (14th June, 2018)

Synopsis:

Theodosia was six when her country was invaded and her mother, the Fire Queen, was murdered before her eyes. On that day, the Kaiser took Theodosia’s family, her land, and her name. Theo was crowned Ash Princess–a title of shame to bear in her new life as a prisoner.

For ten years Theo has been a captive in her own palace. She’s endured the relentless abuse and ridicule of the Kaiser and his court. She is powerless, surviving in her new world only by burying the girl she was deep inside.

Then, one night, the Kaiser forces her to do the unthinkable. With blood on her hands and all hope of reclaiming her throne lost, she realizes that surviving is no longer enough. But she does have a weapon: her mind is sharper than any sword. And power isn’t always won on the battlefield.

For ten years, the Ash Princess has seen her land pillaged and her people enslaved. That all ends here.

First off, I just realised that the cover is quite similar to the covers used for the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. Which I love…. haven’t read King’s Cage yet though…. because the other books in the series made me cry, and KC is apparently even sadder…. plus book 4, the finale, is out soon….. I need to hold out a little longer……

This could be the reason that I clicked on this book on Amazon, because it looks like something that I do love…. and so I may love this one… I feel that this is likely. POLITICAL INTRIGUE! I very rarely care for politics…. unless it’s in books…. then it’s actually interesting.

Also, “her mind is sharper than any sword” ???? Am I sensing a SHERLOCK PRINCESS WHO’S MOTHER CONTROLLED FIRE?!?!?!

DOES SHE GET THE FIRE TOO???????

A FIRE CONTROLLING SHERLOCK??!??!!?

Hehehehe, the Irony of Sherlock and Smaug and Mr Benedict Cumberbatch.

2) Sky in the Deep – Adrienne Young (24th April, 2018)

Synopsis:

OND ELDR. BREATHE FIRE.

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient, rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield–her brother, fighting with the enemy–the brother she watched die five years ago.

Faced with her brother’s betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbour is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family.

She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother’s friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people she’s spent her life hating.

*Dreamy sigh* I REALLY need this one… I don’t own any books about Viking clans…. and I reaaaaaaally want to… and SOON I SHALL!!!!

There is literally not much I can say about this book…..It sounds flipping AMAZING!!…. just from reading the synopsis I. AM. SO. READY.

I may need to lower these expectations…..because I REALLY WANT TO LOVE IT! AHHHHHHH!

3) A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir (14th June, 2018)

Synopsis for book one (An Ember in the Ashes):

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. When Laia’s grandparents are brutally murdered and her brother arrested for treason by the empire, the only people she has left to turn to are the rebels. But in exchange for their help in saving her brother, they demand that Laia spy on the ruthless Commandant of Blackcliff, the Empire’s greatest military academy. Should she fail it’s more than her brother’s freedom at risk …Laia’s very life is at stake. There, she meets Elias, the academy’s finest soldier. But Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realise that their destinies are intertwined – and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

Ok.

  1. I LOVED the first book immensely.
  2. I have the second book but since Red Queen I am cautious about reading books when their sequels are so far away.
  3. This series has had a loooooooot of cover changes???? I have seen at least 3 different styled covers??? I am confused and slightly anxious…

I reeeeally want to get started on finishing series on my shelf….. even though some of the books aren’t even out yet *sobs*

Plus, I want to find out where this story goes, because it’s been a while since I read the first book and my mind has come up with some pretty crazy theories.

4) War Storm – Victoria Aveyard (15th May, 2018)

Synopsis for book one (Red Queen):

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart …

The first book for me… made me panic.

The second book made me cry myself to sleep because it was so sad….

I have yet to read book 3 King’s Cage and and this book is THE FINALE WOOOOOOO! I am super-duper ready for this book to finally come out so that my emotions can finally settle…. every time I think about it I go a little mad….. there are tears… There are always tears though *sobbing again*

5) These Rebel Waves – Sara Raasch (7th August, 2018)

Synopsis:

Adeluna is a soldier. Five years ago, she helped the magic-rich island of Grace Loray overthrow its oppressor, Agrid, a country ruled by religion.

But adjusting to postwar life has not been easy. When an Argridian delegate vanishes during peace talks with Grace Loray’s new Council, Argrid demands brutal justice–but Lu suspects something dangerous is at work.

Devereux is a pirate. As one of the stream raiders who run rampant on Grace Loray, he scavenges the island’s magic plants and sells them on the black market. But after Argrid accuses raiders of the diplomat’s abduction, Vex becomes a target. An expert navigator, he agrees to help Lu find the Argridian–but the truth they uncover could be deadlier than any war.

Benat is a heretic. The crown prince of Argrid, he harbours a secret obsession with Grace Loray’s forbidden magic. When Ben’s father, the king, gives him the shocking task of reversing Argrid’s fear of magic, Ben has to decide if one prince can change a devout country–or if he’s building his own pyre.

As conspiracies arise, Lu, Vex, and Ben will have to decide who they really are . . . and what they are willing to become for peace.
